1. Ugandan Ambassador in Rwanda

Ingabire at Uganda Ambassy in Kigali

14 :00 – 15 :00 : The Chairperson of the FDU-INKINGI was received by the Ugandan Ambassador in Rwanda, Mr. Richard T. Kabonero. Among other things, they discussed how East African Community and the Republic of Uganda can help Rwandan people to achieve true Democracy that FDU party is committed to install in Rwanda.

2. Interview with the ITV journalist.

11:00: Victoire U. Ingabire received a journalist from ITV. The discussion was mainly about what are her policies she is bringing in her country, how she has received by Rwandan people on her arrival and what are her plans of work in the country.

She expressed her gratitude to Rwandans who came in numbers to welcome her on her arrival at the airport. She reckoned that development effort has been solely for the main cities. Ms Ingabire explained that today leaders are not yet prepared to accept other people’s different point of views from theirs. This makes it difficult for Rwandan people to live in total freedom. Despite unpleasant verbal attacks by the leaders of Rwanda, through different associations of genocide survivors, she is convinced that FDU-Inkingi is determined to continue its objective to install true democracy in Rwanda.

3. Visit to the country and people of Murambi

At 4: pm, Mrs. Victoire Ingabire Umuhoza visited the district of Murambi where she met people who have lost their properties they built there. These people settled in Murambi after being expropriated from their habitual residence in Muhima and other areas of the City of Kigali to give way to building constructions.

They submitted to her various difficulties such as imprisonments for claiming their property rights and for protesting against why they have been singled out to be expropriated. They explained to her that their case settlements have been postponed up to eight times because two of the claimants have gone missing.

Parents and their children have nowhere to stay. It appeared to Mrs Victoire Ingabire that when they were speaking to her, those people showed fear, fear of reprisal similar to what their comrades went through for expressing their concerns. They asked her to speak out for them against their unfair treatment.

4. Meeting with a journalist of Ugandan 256news.com

Later in the evening, Mrs Victoire Ingabire Umuhoza met with a journalist from 256news.com. The talked about issues regarding democracy in Rwanda. They discussed about the term genocidal ideology. People are scared to speak out of their mind for fear of being accused of having a genocidal ideology. She wished today’s Rwandan leaders could understand that whoever has a different opinion from theirs, should not necessary be treated as an enemy.

They also discussed about wide-spread poverty that a large number of the population is living in. The journalist also asked how far her Party registration process has reached. She explained that the leaders of FDU-Inkingi that came to register the party are yet to receive their own identity cards which are required by the registration process. The Chairperson of FDU hopes that their identity card applications will not experience delays similar to what many of FDU leaders’ passport application encountered. Up until now, the party leaders are still awaiting the outcome of those passport applications.
